Biog
Based in Nottingham, UK Zadkiel is an alternative band led by singer-songwriter Dan Heathcote. While the name has been active since the early 2000s, the current lineup was established in 2015 when Heathcote recruited guitarist George Beedle. Subsequently, drummer Mark Duckers and bassist Josh Marsh joined to solidify the group.
The band crafts a sophisticated progressive rock sound built on a foundation of 90s grunge and metal. Drawing inspiration from the expansive compositions of Porcupine Tree and Nirvana, and Radiohead. as well as the melodic depth of The Smashing Pumpkins, with Dan Heathcotes vocals and surreal lyrics, central to their identity.
Thematically the lyrics are influenced by the dark, surrealist art of H.R. Giger and the spiritual symbolism of William Blake, resulting in a vibe Heathcote describes as "darkly euphoric."
Currently, Zadkiel is focused on recording their second studio album, with a release targeted for early 2027 alongside a plan to unify their entire back catalogue on digital platforms.
